Gill Dooley

Gill Dooley was born into a music filled Dublin household. Dad taught her the Beatles members before her sisters’ names, Mum played Abba every day. Most kids read ‘Anne & Barry’, Gill trawled through Smash Hits.
As a teenager, following obsessions with Queen, Guns n Roses and Manic Street Preachers, Gill was ready for business. DJ-ing for Dublin 15’s station Phoenix FM, gave her a bursting black book of local musicians. At BCFE, Gill carried out Damien Rice’s first solo interview, whilst studying Media. A spell spent managing Dubliner, Richard Martin, followed, allowing Gill to work the indie scene by night, the mainstream by day, within EMI.

Moving onto RMGChart, saw Gill work on releases from artists as diverse as Guggenheim Grotto to David Gray.

06 was an exciting year for Gill, working as Music Buyer for New Zealand’s largest retailer. Returning home in 07, following a brief roll with HotPress, Gill joined Universal Music, as the eyes, ears and face of their Digital department.

Of her current role, Gill says, “Universal’s focus is the music; digital is an incredibly positive area to work within.”
